Founded in 2003, Genevieve Wheeler Decorative Art Advisory is built on Genevieve’s more than twelve years of experience in the auction world, broad generalist expertise, and an extensive network across American, European, and Asian fine and decorative arts.

Genevieve began her career at Christie’s in 1992 in the European Decorative Arts Department, following an internship at The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. She later led Overseas Consignments at Christie’s Park Avenue, managing inquiries for European-based auctions across a wide range of categories, from miniatures to textiles. In 1995, she became the New York contact for Fabergé and Russian silver sales, and from 1998 to 2003 served as a specialist in Fine Musical Instruments at Christie’s Rockefeller Center.

During her tenure at Christie’s, Genevieve was involved in several landmark sales, including Carl Fabergé’s Pine Cone Egg and The Taft Stradivari, which achieved a record price for a musical instrument sold at auction in the United States. She has also appeared as an appraiser on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow.

Deeply engaged in the cultural community, Genevieve has served on the board of Dumbarton House in Washington, D.C., and on the Young Fellows Steering Committee of The Frick Collection from 1995 to 2005. She co-chaired the Winter Antiques Show Young Collectors Night from 2004 to 2006, served as a vice chair of Opening Night, and was a co-founder of The Winter Show Design Luncheon.

Genevieve currently advises several organizations, including the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, and serves on the Board of Advisors of the Washington Winter Show.
